Sitting in the totally dry Todd River bed in the city of Alice Springs in Australia's Northern Territory

Thank you, Johnny. I saw this on a number of occasions on this trip to central Australia. Seems to be an aboriginal custom.

Now THIS is Australian photography at its best. Talk about 1000 words springing to mind from a solitary image!

My only suggestion - and that's all it is - would be to crop it even more to get rid of the green altogether. Turn it into a sea of dusty brown. That would scream rural, drought, hard times, politics, discussions et al. Maybe I've been reading too much Murdoch press and my brain's being fried on the other side by Fox, but I reckon that it would get sindication around the country that way. Just a thought... :)

@Sash: I cropped it quite a lot but left it this way because I couldn't get over the idea of the totally dry river running through the town. Your suggestion is an interesting one, though, and I can imagine this as an alternative, so thanks for the idea.
