Self portrait with my wife

Okay, I don't usually post this sort of thing, but I've decided to be a little self indulgent today. Additionally, I don't usually go broadcasting anything about my birthday, but this time I've decided, why not! It's today, the 7th of November... and I'm not at all shy to say that I'm 59 years old!

That's my wife, Cecilia, in the background, and, after quite a bit of persuading, she's making her debut on aminus3 today.

This was taken on Sunday, the 28th of October 2007, at 3:34pm, to be precise. That's from the EXIF information, but you can try and read it from my watch, if you like! We're in David Jones department store in the centre of Sydney, here, and luckily for me, they had this huge, perfectly clean mirror to use for the shot.

This is my old zoom without the optical stabilizer, so not too bad -- if I say so myself -- for a 10th of a second. I think I had the end of the lens hood resting on the glass, so that would have helped.

TRAVEL NOTE:
The day after tomorrow, Friday, the 9th of November, we will be flying out of Sydney in the morning to Auckland, New Zealand. There will be spending five days, travelling around the north island, and then returning to Auckland to fly on to San Francisco, where we will be based for the rest of our three and a half weeks on holiday. Then it's directly back to Sydney for us on the 4th of December.

I will try to get online as much as possible during this holiday, although I don't know how much that will be at the moment. If I don't manage to respond to comments and/or visit your website as much as I would like to, I will catch up later on.

UPDATE:
Saturday, 10 Nov.
This is our second day in New Zealand. Now heading north from Auckland. This is just a hello again. Sorry I haven't been able to answer any of you or visit your sites, but will do so when I get the opportunity.

Sunday, 11 Nov.
Now travelling down the North Island to visit places south of Auckland. As we've been arriving fairly late at our hotels each evening, I haven't had the time to prepare any photos for upoad, but they'll be coming in a while.

Wednesday, 14 Nov.
Now on our second last day in New Zealand. Flying out to San Francisco tomorrow. Still no chance to post any photos, but will do so soon.

New Zealand is a very relaxing place, with friendly people, beautiful scenary and great food. The funny for me, as an Australian, is that it hardly feels as if I'm in another country!
