Cows

Posted by Andrew Gould (Sydney, Australia) on 10 January 2008 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

Now it's back to the North Island of New Zealand, and this was taken somewhere between Hamilton and Rotorua (for New Zealanders and anyone who likes maps!) on the 12th of November 2007 at 10:39 am.

UPDATE... after receiving three comments. If anyone is wondering why I used a shutter speed of 1/2000 of a second, it's because this was taken from a moving car. (Good for a photographer when your partner likes to do most of the driving!)

This was originally about half sky, with nice clouds and good highlight detail. It looked alright, although I felt that it was too commonplace that way. Then when I looked carefully at the cow on the extreme right, I felt that there needed to be more emphasis placed on these animals, rather than just presenting this as a country scene. My only regret is that there isn't at least a little space between the cow on the extreme left and the edge of the frame.
