Next time, it will back to San Francisco again, but tonight (at least, my time), come and cross the road with me right in the middle of the Sydney city centre. This was just three and a bit hours before posting, when I was on my way home.
(That's the Queen Victoria Building in the background.)

UPDATE after receiving 7 comments: I am so pleased that there has been substantial mention in these comments of capturing the feeling of the busyiness of the city because this is exactly what I intended to convey. I wanted you all to have as close to the feeling that I had standing there in the midst of all this activity.
Just a little more background on the shot also: As I've mentioned in a reply below, pedestrians can cross in any direction here, as when it's their turn, the lights change to red at the same time on all the streets that meet here. Apparently, this intersection will become a pedestrian plaza in the future. This is part of an overall plan to make the city centre more pedestrian friendly.
The street that you see going out of the picture to the right is George St, which is the principal thoroughfare in the centre.

Nice urban shot with lots of hustle and bustle. Also like the colors of the building and flags.

A great shot of the QVB ! And it's really difficult to shoot this building.

I do love corners like this... the free-for-all I call it. We don't have this here where I live... as in Alberta, Canada. Guess our cities aren't big enough to stop all traffic for the pedestrians. The first time we encountered this was in Auckland. I've had a boo at all your stuff, Andrew, and I quite like what I've seen now that I've finally made it here to your site (have seen your name on the forum). Can't wait to see more of your vacation images.

@amy: Thanks Amy. This is actually a whole intersection where the traffic stops at the same time on all the road that meet here so pedestrians are free to cross in any direction.
What a wonderful building, I love the way it is bathed in sunlight. The colour of this shot is glorious, brilliant Andrew.

Someone already mentioned this but you definitely captured Sydney as I remembered it. It was VERY busy! I would love to go back.

I like the movement, the business of the pedestrians in the foregound as opposed to the beautiful building in the background! And added to these...the light and striking orange flags!A well balanced capture in spite of being busy! Gabriela

Wow Andrew it's awesome you really get the feel of the big city and all the hustle and bustle that that entails. I especially like the lighting on the building in the back too - really makes it jump out at you, the colours are so bright! great shot and such interesting write up too!! Thanks for letting us geta sneak peak of what Sydney is like. Friends of ours have just been accepted to OZ and will be moving to Perth before the end of the year! Even though it's not the same city at least I now have a slight feel for what life might be like for them on your side of the world! :)
