The red umbrella

Posted by Andrew Gould (Sydney, Australia) on 1 February 2008 in Miscellaneous and Portfolio.

It was a rainy day today in Sydney. I took this as a challenge on passing through the city centre, as the light was not very interesting and everything looked pretty dull. At that time, it was hardly raining at all, although it was enough for people to keep their umbrellas up.

As soon as I spotted this woman walking through the crowd, I knew it was the red umbrella I had to get. Of the many shots that I took quickly in succession, this was the best, when I finally caught up with her as she was waiting to cross a road. I was not so close to her, and was lucky to get this one in with no passers by in the way.

I have one more from today with two umbrellas, and that will have to be for next time...

Just returned last night from the trip to Northern Australia, during which I was hardly able to get online at all. Thanks for all the comments lately. It will take me a few days, but I'll catch up with return visits to your pages.
