Another one from this festival at Sydney's Darling Harbour on the 2nd of February 2008. By the time I took this (at 5:49 pm), the sun was getting just that bit lower and the light was warmer.
These are dancers in their make up and costumes.
UPDATE after 3 comments. I thought I'd add out of interest a little note about the cloning I did here. I mentioned in yesterday's post from this festival that I find that the biggest problem shooting in such a situation is people getting in the way. In the present photo, there was the back of someone's head to the left of the main subject's right hand. I cloned this out, extending the lines of his clothing downward.

Those are interesting Japanese faces, Andrew. With their makeup they remind me of Kabuki masks.

Another fantastic shot, I really like the natural lighting of this one.

@Graham Russon: Thanks, Graham. I had to play around with recovery (for the highlights) in the Adobe RAW converter to not have the most prominent white area burnt out looking, and then further in Photoshop with the shadow/highlight tool to bring out a little more in the shadows.
effective use on the shadows and highlights. i guess that's every photographer's problem--people getting in the way. but it has its own advantages, like getting a good, candid profile shots. exactly like the one you have here.
