Taken today, Sunday, 13th of April 2008 at 4:09pm on the shoreline of Botany Bay in Sydney's Southern Suburbs.
It had been raining earlier in the afternoon, and was overcast when I arrived at the beach. Fortunately, the sun came shining through the clouds just before I took this, giving me very nice light. It made for a very satisfying end to my walk along the shore.
As usual in this type of situation, I used the long end of my Sigma 18-200mm f3.5-6.3 DC OS zoom, which gives the equivalent of 300mm in 35mm format. Some cropping done afterwards, too.
Thanks for visiting my pages. I welcome all comments and any constructive criticism.
Thursday 24th of June: Just returned last night from the trip to Northern Australia, during which I was hardly able to get online at all. Thanks for all the comments lately. It will take me a few days, but I'll catch up with return visits to your pages.

Marvelous shot, Andrew, I particularly like the reflections the birds make. Great capture as well.

Lucky window of light here and I love how purposeful the bird in the left seems to be . . I guess survival tends to concentrate the mind. Neat composition.

The refection on the sand and the background made by the approaching wave make this a beautiful shot. Very nice Andrew

Beautiful light and the crop is good -- a nice tight photo.
