My new Canon G10: first shots - 2

Taken in Martin Place, Sydney. yesterday morning. I came across what was a bit of a preamble to Remembrance Day, the 11th of November. A police band was playing and there were various official looking people around, including these former soldiers.

This is not as sharp as I would have liked, but as I've still decided to post it to show off the G10 at 400 ISO. You can see this and the colour version of it much larger here, in my Canon G10 first photos gallery:

@Em!ly Ng: Thanks for the comment on this, Emily. I couldn't decide, myself. I thought the colour was richer looking with those medals and the jacket, but that the black and white worked better on an emotional level.

hola de nuevo,veo que pides disculpas por no responder los comments.
no creo que nadie te lo tenga en cuenta,todos ,más o menos, tenemos nuestros problemas.
buen retrato,la mirada del personaje principal hacia el segundo personaje nos facilita la lectura de la imagen.
bien andrew , parece que estás contento con tu nuevo juguete,que por cierto no está todavía disponible (o en muy pequeñas cantidades en el mercado español...)

el b&w lo encuentro muy bien conseguido,que sistema utilizas(a no ser que sea un secreto profesional,jejeje)

@elmenut: Gracias por el comentario. El blanco y negro está hecho en Photoshop CS3. Antes, en CS2, había que usar el "channel mixer" (tengo versiones en inglés), pero con escala de grises. Ahora en CS2, el convertidor a blanco y negro tiene más controles para diferentes colores. Lo encuentro aún mejor. Saludos.

For those who don't speak Spanish, I replied, saying that I used the new black and white converter in Photoshop CS3, which has various colour filter controls. In CS2, the channel mixer is very good, although I find the CS3 converter even better.

wonderful street capture again, the new camera seems pretty handy, both the color version and this are great would be a tough call for me to pick one over the other

Good B&W report, and the old 'geezers' look proud displaying their medals, and quite right too..!

the B&W would be the obvious choice for the subject matters- veterans, badges. Then i looked at the coloured one - it brings out character in him & his hapzard badges. so the less typical choice (for me), for this less typical veteran =)

excellent shot -- this composition is splendid! sorry have been out -- seem to have missed your g10 shots? where is number one? ;) i will find it! i think i might invest in one of these guys too -- how do you think it will do for landscapes?
