Sydney Harbour Bridge

I was down at Circular Quay yesterday afternoon (the 5th). This is a great place to walk around. It's where the ferries go across the harbour from and is where the Opera House is, too. This is a very popular place for strolling around and eating at the many restaurants. (The structures on the right, above the roadway on the bridge were for the New Year's Eve fireworks display, and have not yet been removed.)

I would like to keep in touch with members of the aminus3 community.

Spectacular shot of this great icon, and very nice with the ferry boat. Just left of center there is what looks like a pocket of trees and houses... it must be cool living right there in the city ?.

@Observing: Thanks, Mike. I took this from the city side of the harbour, and the city centre is out of view to the left side of the frame. What looks like the city in the background here, is North Sydney, which is a commercial centre on what is called the North Shore. I've just had a look on Google maps, Australia. That's Milsons Point, and all those trees are in parkland. You can see the area here, with Luna Park at the bottom of the map. It is cooler near the water on hot days here, compared with the suburbs out in the west, although the last few days have been really hot here.

A classic Sydney view !! I watched the New year fireworks from the bridge Live online at about 2 oclock in the afternoon in Germany !!

@Anthony Lambert: Hi Anthony. Knowing that we were only going to get a distant view of the fireworks that night from where we would be, I left it to record from the TV, but didn't set it right and ended up with nothing. You would have seen it better from Germany than us then!

Loved Sydney - are those the tour groups at the top of the bridge? Still have a photo of myself up there.

@dobbino: Yes, Rob. Those would be people on the Bridge Climb tour right up there on the top. The larger objects up there must be what is used by the painters and maintenence crew. You won't catch me up there ever, I can tell you, although my wife intends to go sometime.

Those fireworks were, indeed, spectacular from the images I've seen but there is something telling in your 'after the event' shot, too . . life goes on, another year already well under way.
